Creating Sustainability Awareness
Our company is committed to reducing our Sustainability impact. We identify and monitor Sustainability risks, opportunities, and impacts associated with our business. Priorities include energy efficient technology, water efficiency, waste reduction, and conservation across all properties.
Sun's goal is to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2035 and Net Zero Emissions by 2045.
Sustainability Management
We have implemented a robust management system to effectively evaluate, prioritize, and manage the Sustainability impacts from operations. This program aligns with the practices of ISO 14001 and is overseen by our Board and leadership. Sun's commitment to Sustainability management is demonstrated through actions we implement:
- Ensuring local Sustainability requirements are followed at our properties through management review.
- Conducting a materiality assessment, along with developing programs and procedures, to identify how to minimize the Sustainability impacts of our operations.
- Providing education to team members on our operational Sustainability impacts.
- Educating and engaging residents, guests, and members ("customers") on the benefits of joint participation in energy efficiency opportunities, water reduction, and best practices to reduce waste.
- Establishing long- and short-term goals to address Sustainability impacts.
- Establishing and implementing mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of initiatives to address Sustainability impacts.
- Collecting and reviewing Sustainability impact data to monitor the effectiveness of our programs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Actively engaging with leadership in the development, implementation, and oversight of Sustainability initiatives.
- Complying with national and/or local energy, water, and waste rules; regulations; and requirements.
